More People Are Abandoning Cable Service April 14, 2010
Posted by atharkhan in : Tech , 11commentsI read today that in 2009, an estimated 600,000 people canceled their cable TV service and opted for web/antenna based viewing.
We canceled our cable service last year to minimize our time in front of the TV but still watch some shows over the air (using an HDTV antenna) and via Hulu, and AppleTV.
I wonder how cable companies will respond to this trend. I have a feeling that they will impose some kind of Internet usage limits, or perhaps will charge consumers based on the amount of data they transfer.
What do you think? Do you expect Internet service pricing models to change in the future?
Narrowed it down to the Samsung and the Toshiba. November 27, 2009
Posted by atharkhan in : Personal, Tech , 9commentsMy 6 year old Panasonic plasma TV died a few weeks ago. I had been considering getting a new HDTV anyway so this was somewhat of a coincidence. After asking around, I have (I think!) narrowed it down to theĀ Samsung LN46B630 and theĀ Toshiba REGZA 55ZV650U
.
Anyone want to weigh in and offer the tiebreaker opinion on this?
HDTV: Plasma, LCD, or LED? October 31, 2009
Posted by atharkhan in : Personal, Tech , 6commentsMy four year old Plasma TV seems to be on its way out. Any recommendations on which technology (Plasma, LCD, or LED) is better? Is any particular brand better than others at this point or are they all comparable?
