Google TV May 20, 2010
Posted by atharkhan in : Tech , add a commentInteresting announcement by Google. Hopefully this means that I can get rid of the AppleTV which can only play Apple-approved formats.

RCN Cable vs. Clear WiMAX May 4, 2010
Posted by atharkhan in : Personal, Tech , 3commentsI currently have the 10Mbps cable Internet service from RCN. However, every evening, the network is so slow that even ICA and RDP services become unusable. I am considering switching to the 6Mbps 4G WiMAX service offered by Clear.
In the abstract, 6Mbps < 10 Mbps. However, I am not sure what the actual experience is like for Clear customers.
If you have recently switched to Clear, would you please leave a comment and tell me what your experience has been like?
This is what my cable service looks like at this moment:
More People Are Abandoning Cable Service April 14, 2010
Posted by atharkhan in : Tech , 11commentsI read today that in 2009, an estimated 600,000 people canceled their cable TV service and opted for web/antenna based viewing.
We canceled our cable service last year to minimize our time in front of the TV but still watch some shows over the air (using an HDTV antenna) and via Hulu, and AppleTV.
I wonder how cable companies will respond to this trend. I have a feeling that they will impose some kind of Internet usage limits, or perhaps will charge consumers based on the amount of data they transfer.
What do you think? Do you expect Internet service pricing models to change in the future?
