Liquidation September 24, 2008
Posted by atharkhan in : Personal , add a commentThe first “material possession” to go was the Toyota Scion tC. We (i.e. the wife and I) took it to Carmax and handed it over at a “wholesale” rate. At least we’re not paying for parking and insurance on it now. I have a feeling the other car will soon find its way to Carmax as well.
We also got around to selling our first item on Craigslist. Some lucky person walked away with our TV for $35. It was a CRT so only two or three people had expressed interest in it. Although the TV was relatively outdated, I have to say that it felt bad to be selling it at such a low price. I had bought it in 2003 for about $300. So, to offset the “seller’s remorse” we have decided to pay down the principal on our mortgage with all proceeds.
Up next: The TEC RadiantWave infrared BBQ grill.
Gearing up for the IL Bar Exam in Feb 2009 September 5, 2008
Posted by atharkhan in : IL Bar Prep, Personal , add a commentThe Illinois Bar application requires even more information than the Moral Character application in California. These days, I am trying to compile all this information to be able to register for the upcoming exam in February 2009. Hopefully, this will all be done in the next two or three weeks leaving only the exam to focus on.
Settling In September 5, 2008
Posted by atharkhan in : Personal , add a commentI’ve been in Chicago for about a week and things are finally beginning to fall into place. We have an apartment and the household stuff has been delivered. Because we’re living in a very small apartment instead of the place we were originally counting on, we will have to dispose of a lot of our things. So, over the next few days, we’ll have to list them on Craigslist. If you are interested in items such as a chaise lounge (patio chair), bicycle, bbq grill, couches, etc., let us know.
