Goog-411: Google’s Voice Local Search April 7, 2007
Posted by atharkhan in : Review, Tech , trackbackGoogle just released a voice-based local search. To try it out, do the following:
- 1) Dial 1 (800) GOOG-411 (Meaning: 1-800-466-4411)
- 2) Once connected, you can speak the category or name of whatever you are looking for (e.g. “Pizza” or “Joe’s Pizza”)
- 3) You will then be connected for free.
- 4) You can also ask for the information in a text message if you say “text message”
I just tried it out and it seems to work pretty well. It is different (and has less features) than Tellme / 1-800-555-TELL (which can do just about anything — Driving directions, Airline Information, Movies etc.). But, the nice thing about it is that it provides local search which I think is still missing from Tellme.
