Scribd (www.scribd.com) March 15, 2007
Posted by atharkhan in : Review, Tech , trackbackScribd is being hailed as the YouTube for documents. It is essentially a flash based document repository. The idea is excellent and the end-product is visually appealing.
However, even ignoring the inherent Copyright issues, I think the basic flaw with Scribd is that it requires people to read. If everyone enjoyed reading as much as watching videos, would YouTube have become this much of a phenomenon? Would movies be eagerly awaited? Wouldn’t everyone just read the (readily available) book?
All that being said, I really do believe in centralized document repositories. I hope that Scribd makes it. I will definitely use it to post my law outlines, resume, etc.
