Patent Bar Prep - Day 11 December 28, 2006
Posted by atharkhan in : Patent Bar Prep , 4commentsFinished the videos on Chapter 6 (Continuing Applications & Introduction to Continued Examinations). There are a lot of rules to remember but luckily they do not seem too complex. As strange as it may seem, this stuff almost seems easier than remembering all the 102 variations.
So, thats about it for the day.
Patent Bar Prep - Day 10 December 27, 2006
Posted by atharkhan in : Patent Bar Prep , add a commentFinished the first 60 questions on Chapter 4 (which tests all sections of 102). Only watched a couple videos on Continuing Applications. It took about 3 hours to do the 60 questions. In the beginning, I was getting an alarming number of them wrong. But, as I started noticing some patterns in what to look for to establish a Date of Invention etc., it got a bit easier. The PTO seems to delight in testing on issues of identity, geography and virtually every subtlety between the 102 sections. The differences between (d) and (e) got me a few times but now I think I have a fairly decent handle on it.
I am going to call it a night and go to my Yoga class.
Patent Bar Prep - Day 09 December 26, 2006
Posted by atharkhan in : Patent Bar Prep , add a commentFinished out the questions for Chapter 3… and stopped there. This stuff was fun up until a few days ago but it is turning into drudgery. With 10 days before school, this is not where I wanted to be. I have burned half the winter break on Section 112 and 102/103.
Another thing that bothers me is that I was hoping to retain a good percentage of it mentally so that I would only have to go to the MPEP for a few off the wall questions. As it turns out, its normal to have to consult the MPEP for a majority of the questions. I don’t know … that just doesn’t seem right to me. With only 3.6 minutes per question, it just doesn’t seem feasible to consult the MPEP a whole lot. For now, I am going to try and go from memory. If my averages start falling below 70%, I will have to start consulting it.
So there you have it, I have used a little over 1/3rd of the time I had set aside for this and am not where I should have been. I don’t know if the goals were unrealistic or if I am not putting in the effort that I should be. I guess time will tell. For now, there are 10 days to make up for the last 9 which havent amounted to much.
