Patent Law down, Crim Pro to go. July 20, 2005
Posted by atharkhan in : Law School , trackbackMade it past Patent Law. The exam was about 15 pages long I think. The scenario was very interesting but that was certainly not a 3 Hour Exam. If I really had to do that right, it would have taken me more like 15 or 20 Hours. There were multiple inventive entities, an issued patent being challenged for validity, the patentee was charging Contributory Infringement and Inducement, two patents were in an interference but were on hold because they were both being challenged by some prior art. Instead of the standard “question” this was a “library file” with emails, interview notes, patents and fact patterns and I was supposed to figure out what was going on. And, as if that wasnt enough, some of the art had greek alphabets for names which you cannot type inside ExamSoft. I have to say, the whole thing was a lot of fun but it really was not a 3 hour exam. I walked out with absolutely no recollection of what I wrote or how I did. The good news is that no one else did either so hopefully things will even out with the curve. I really did want to be the “CurveKiller” on this exam. We’ll see how that turns out when I get the grade.
The next one is Criminal Procedure. Another fun class. But, with over a 100 people in the class, that will be one competitive curve. And with that irritating mandatory “half the class must fail” rule, it will be an interesting experience.
I would stick around to share more of my whining with you but Conan is on TV and I am going to go watch it :-)

I thought that exam was crazy hard. Sounds like you did better than me, that’s for sure.
I can’t believe it has been a month and we don’t have our grade back yet.
